The fact that CBSE is one of the largest boards in the world, and
that there are many schools following CBSE curriculum not only in
India, but also far and wide around the world, is not known to many.
The schools abroad cater not only to the Indian Diaspora but also
to people from various ethnic and native backgrounds. The Arabian
Gulf has over 70 such schools. These schools cooperate and collaborate
to enhance the standards by sharing and learning.
To enable such endeavours, all the schools in the Gulf have formed
a Council of CBSE affiliated Schools, which is a forum for active
interaction and it meets at least once every year. In continuing this
tradition, the Fourteenth Annual Conference of Council of CBSE affiliated
schools in Gulf was held in Doha, Qatar from 15-18, January 2002 and
was hosted by the Ideal Indian School, Doha.
The conference was a four-day affair that enables the Council to take
stock of the last one year's performance and also plan for the next
one year, along with a workshop or two thrown in to address the needs
of the schools and the Council.
As per the tradition of the Council, the secretary of the Council,
Mr. M M Joshi, the Principal of The Indian School, Muscat took over
as the Chairperson of the Council for the year 2002-2003. Mr. Ainsley
Edgar, Principal of the Ideal Indian School, Doha has been elected
as the Secretary of the Council and Mr. V Gopalan, the Principal,
New Indian School, Bahrain as the treasurer.
Career Launcher family extends hearty felicitations to the new team
and the entire Council and wishes the best for the coming year. |
